Terms of Service
These terms apply to theivyacademy.com and to the services The Ivy Academy describes on it. By using the site or engaging our services, you agree to them.
Who we are
The Ivy Academy is an independent college admissions advisory headquartered in New York. We provide standardized test preparation, college guidance, essay advising and internship placement to high-school students and their families. All sessions and consultations are held online.
Not affiliated with any university
The Ivy Academy is an independent organization. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to any university or college, the Ivy League, the College Board, ACT, Inc. or any other educational institution or testing body.
Where this site names a university, test or institution, it does so only to describe the admissions process. Their names and marks belong to their owners. Nothing on this site should be read as a university speaking, or as a university approving of our services.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and is provided to help families understand what we do. It is not individual advice, and we may change it at any time without notice. We work to keep it accurate, but we do not promise that every page is complete or current.
Our services
Every engagement is governed by a written engagement agreement between The Ivy Academy and a parent or legal guardian. That agreement sets out the services, the schedule and the fees. If it conflicts with these terms, the engagement agreement controls.
A request for a consultation is not an engagement. We may decline to begin, or may end, an engagement where we believe we cannot serve a family well.
Parents and students
A parent or legal guardian enters into every engagement on the student's behalf and remains our client throughout. The parent consents to our working directly with the student, including by video call and email, and may ask to review that correspondence at any time.
No guarantee of outcomes
Admissions decisions are made by colleges, test scores are earned by students and internship offers are made by host organizations. We cannot and do not guarantee admission to any school, any particular score, or any particular placement. Past results, including those described on this site, do not predict an individual student's outcome.
Internship placements
Host organizations are independent businesses, laboratories and research groups. They are not our employees, agents or partners, and each sets the terms of its own internship, including the role, the schedule, supervision and any compensation. We match and prepare students and stay in contact throughout, but we do not control a host's workplace.
We do not promise a placement with any specific host, in any specific role or by any specific date. A recommendation letter reflects the honest assessment of the person who supervised the student.
Academic integrity
We advise. The student's essays, applications and test answers are the student's own work, and families are responsible for the accuracy of everything they submit to a college or testing body. We do not write application materials on a student's behalf, and we will not help any family misrepresent a student's record, work or circumstances.
Fees
Fees, payment schedules and any refund terms are set out in the engagement agreement.
